ABOUT

I’m Sam-r, a Syrian-born, Toronto-based hip-hop artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. My journey with music began in the Middle East, where I fell in love with storytelling through sound. I pursued my passion, studying Music Production and Sound Design, but as war and unrest engulfed my home, I was forced to leave everything behind in search of a better future.

In 2017, I arrived in Canada as a refugee, carrying little more than my love for music and a determination to be heard. A year later, I released my debut album, Death of a Saint—a raw reflection of my journey through loss, hope, and survival.

Since then, Toronto has become both my stage and my community. I’ve performed at venues across the city, collaborated with some of its most creative artists, and evolved my sound into a bold blend of lyricism and live instrumentation.

But my music isn’t just about me—it’s about us. In 2024, I founded Sounds of Solidarity, a concert series supporting humanitarian causes through music. With two sold-out editions, we’ve raised thousands for families in Lebanon and Palestine, proving that art has the power to unite and uplift.

From leading live band performances to producing weekly tracks in my series The Cook Up Sessions, I’m constantly pushing my creative limits. Featured in Exclaim! and interviewed on Nokturnal TV, my music continues to reach new ears, but for me, it’s not about clout—it’s about connection.

I create to move people. To inspire action. To remind us that, no matter where we come from, our stories matter.

This is my sound. This is my journey. And it’s only the beginning.
